Tax Team Leader / Supervisor (Australian Tax)

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and review the work of team members handling compliance tasks and

client deliverables

  • Prepare and review complex financial statements and income tax returns for Sole

Traders, Partnerships, Trusts, and Companies across various industries and

structures

  • Oversee preparation of end-of-financial-year working papers and supporting

documentation

  • Prepare and review complex Business Activity Statements (BAS), including GST,

PAYG Withholding, and PAYG Instalments compliance

  • Prepare and manage Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns for multiple entity types
  • Conduct tax planning calculations and provide tax optimisation advice for

complex business and family group structures

  • Perform peer reviews of all client deliverables including financial reports, tax

returns, BAS, FBT returns, and management reports

  • Support the provision of tax, business, and financial advisory services to clients,

including responding to ad hoc queries

  • Mentor, coach, and guide team members to develop technical expertise and

professional growth

  • Ensure proper use and adherence to accounting software systems such as

MYOB, Xero, and QuickBooks Online

  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and regulatory

requirements

  • Manage both personal and team workloads, ensuring deadlines and client

expectations are consistently met

  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure

accurate financial reporting

  • Maintain strong performance outcomes aligned with KPIs including utilisation,

efficiency, and recoverability

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Strong background in taxation, financial reporting, and compliance
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an accounting or tax

environment

  • Advanced knowledge of tax compliance, including BAS and FBT
  • Strong proficiency in accounting systems (MYOB, Xero, QBO)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
